Green birds in Qur>an & in Hellenic mythology : Merops

capitalists as bee-eaters

Capitalists live off of the WORKERS.

Bee-eater birds live by eating, mainly, WORKER bees (which are female).

In the Confoederate South, exploiters of workers advertise themselves as maltreating only AFRICAns.

The European bee-eater bird nesteth in AFRICA.

The capitalists use women’s domination over their husbands to demand that the men (husbands domineered by pro-capitalist wives) acquiesce to being exploited. The men’s (husbands’) only alternative would be to go without a wife, thereby becoming (in the absence of legalized prostitution) wifeless male homosexuals, who have adopted the RAINBOW-flag (as emblem of their submissiveness to this situation, the submission to homosexuality being in lieu to demanding legalized prostitution). That the capitalist class is sitting harshly on the oppression of submissive homosexuals is caricatured in that satirical political tract, the Revelation of St. John the Divine by a "rainbow around the throne in sight like unto

bee-eater bird as location conferring rejuvenation

Bee-eater birds are commonly green.

According the Qur>an, the "green birds" (unspecified species) abound in Paradise.

‘Bee-eater’ is Merops (GM, vol. 2, p. 400a). From this is derived the name of the (mythical) island Meropis, where (according to the Philippike of Theopompos, as quoted in Ae:VH 3:18:8-9 – LSFN, p. 34), upon eating, in the district A-nostos (‘No return’), (having a choice there of two varieties of fruit, from two species of trees, growing beside two rivers) the fruit of the tree growing beside the River of Pleasure, "he forgets ... . ...

The choice between two fruits is also made in B-Re>sit : a choice between the fruit of the tree of the "knowledge of good and evil" and the fruit the tree of life. There is a choice between two sources of water to be drunk of, according to the Pythagorean gold tablets : the pool of memory and the pool of forgetfulness, each pool having beside it its own species of tree.

He sheds old age and returns to his prime, then to the age of youthfulness, then becomes a boy, then a baby, and after that ceases to exist." (cf. GM 83.b)

"ageing reverts to its opposite, rejuvenation; the old become young; the young become infants; the infants become newborn who simply disappear." (N&SHC, p. 29)

cf. the name of >abram’s cousin HaRRaN of the city H.arran (= [Skt.] Caran.a) :

The age of KRoNos is commemorated in the Kronia festival, during which slaves were ("K&T", p. 17) sharing aequally with their masters : this festival is known to the Latins as Saturnalia, beginning on Dec. 25th.

>abram may be aequivalent to Abatur, who may be (ThG, s.v. "Mano") the "Aged of the Aged".

Another titan was Iapetos, whose name was applied "to old people." ("K&T", p. 14)

A descendant, two generations subsequent, of >abram, was Ya<qob, who was mistakenly designated (by the mortally afflicted as /<es`aw/.

Another titan was Briareus, whom "all mortals" designate Aigaion (Iliad 1:403).

"in the Isle of the Blessed, wives are shared".

At mt. Sipulos was born the heroine Niobe, whose name (< */NISoGa/) may be cognate with that of NIStiGri, mother (according to the Veda) of Indra, a LIGHTNING-hurler.

Zeus hurled LIGHTNING.

The constellation which the hero Merops (king of the isle Kos) is said to have become (according to Ovidius – S-M, p. 56) is Ae:tos (‘EAGLE’, Aquila).

The spread-EAGLEd (thus crucified – thence the Scottish and Confoederate flags) apostle was hagios Andraios (st. Andrew).

The titan Koios (father of Letoi) dwelt in Kos. Tituos, who attempted to rape Letoi, "lies stretched across nine acres" (O:M 4:453, cf. V:Ae 6:595 -- T). [This fate was similar to that of Iapetos’s son, Prometheus.]

Merops (of Kos)’s son Agron was transformed (according to AL:M 15) into a plover for berating the god Hermes for being a thief.

When Hermes was disclosed (according to A:B 2:7) by Hierax for assisting a female prisoner to escape, Hierax was transformed (according to AL:M 3 – "H") into a falcon.

Meropes (king of Kos) was transformed into an eagle. His wife, the nymph Ethemea (‘Sifted, STRAINED’ – L&S), "was snatched away alive" by Persephone "to the Land of the Dead." (H:A 2:16 – AW3)

Soma (passed through a pavitra ‘FILTER’ according to the Veda) was regarded (in the Kambhoja literature) as a goddess snatched away to the moon by the bird Garu-tman.

Of the two daughters of Eumelos son of Merops (of Kos), Meropis insulted Athene, and Bussa became (B:OB, cited in MAL, p. 69) the bird of goddess Leuko-thea (‘White Goddess’).

According to Hyginus, Athene was ridiculed by Hera and by Artemis for being blue-eyed (LGG). (These three goddesses were also rivals in the beauty-contest judged by Paris.)
